Around 100 people took part in a skills event as plans progress for the region’s Get Britain Working Inactivity Trailblazer.

Held at The Milner in York, delegates were given updates on the £10 million programme, before taking part in workshops to share their ideas on key areas of the work.

Announced by Government in November, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is leading one of eight inactivity trailblazer sites in England and Wales. Currently in the development phase, the programme will go live this April.

Speaking after the event, on Friday (14), Tracy Watts, Skills & Employability Manager at York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, said: “It was great to see so many people at The Milner and we really appreciate the valuable contributions and insight shared at our workshops.”

David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, believes the trailblazer will help “break down some of the barriers” for people wanting to get back into work following ill health.
