Budget proposals and transport were on the agenda at today’s (27) meeting of the Combined Authority.

Held in York, the Combined Authority was meeting for the first time in 2025. Chaired by Mayor Skaith, the Combined Authority membership includes leaders and deputy leaders from City of York Council and North Yorkshire Council.

Proposals for the Mayor’s general budget and precept for 2025/26 were outlined. This focussed on budgets for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, including the tax precept for the year ahead. The item will be back on the agenda at the next meeting of the Combined Authority on Friday 7 February for final approval.

The meeting’s transport item saw the region’s Key Route Network approved. These routes include vital links between rural towns and villages, high usage bus routes, and routes that are important to enable people to walk and cycle. Covering both council areas, the Key Route Network helps inform investment and growth plans.
