Preparations are underway for a new programme of Skills Bootcamps in York and North Yorkshire.

While funding from Government is to be confirmed, the Combined Authority can share initial plans for a competitive procurement exercise. This is expected to run across a total of nine separate Lots as follows:

  1. Leadership and Management
  2. Sales, Marketing and Business Development
  3. Entrepreneurship for the Creative industries
  4. Advanced Digital Technologies
  5. Construction and the Built environment
  6. Emerging Net-zero and wider “Green” technologies
  7. Arboriculture and Forestry
  8. HGV Driving
  9. Screen Production and Gaming sector technologies

The Combined Authority is aiming for a procurement launch date before 24 February 2025, but this is subject to funding confirmation and other factors. Updates will be shared through our website and social media channels, and our newsletter – which can be signed-up to here.

All organisations wishing to submit tenders should, meanwhile, ensure they are registered on the online YORtender Portal.

Further information

  • The Lot descriptions are thematic, and Tenderers will be able to submit proposals in a single Tender for delivering, in most cases, one or more specific vocational training packages (“Pathways”) within the overarching Skills Bootcamp as identified in each Lot. This Multi-Pathway model will apply to all Lots except Lot 8, which will be for a single Pathway, specifically focused on HGV driving skills.

  • A Tenderer may wish to act as a Lead provider under a collaborative arrangement with other providers in order to maximise the range of Pathways it is able to offer in its Tender and taking into account any specific requirements that will be set out in each Lot Specification.

  • At the time of writing, the Combined Authority is not in a position to publish any formal procurement timetable relating to Wave 6 Skills Bootcamps.

  • The Combined Authority is not able to provide any further clarification at this stage or to respond to any questions from potential suppliers. There will be provision to seek clarification in the four-week window between publication of Tendering opportunities and the deadline for submitting Tenders.

  • The Combined Authority is aiming for delivery under all Lots to start no later than 1 July 2025, with all training completed by no later than 31 March 2026 and all post-training progression outcomes achieved by 30 September 2026, at the latest.
