Help shape the future of transport in York and North Yorkshire
We’re looking for people to join a community group to help develop the new Local Transport Plan for York and North Yorkshire. The Local Transport Plan will set out the strategic approach to improving all forms of transport – walking, wheeling, cycling, public transport and driving – and creating an integrated transport network across the region.
You don’t have to be ‘interested in transport’ to take part – we want to hear from anyone who is interested in making York and North Yorkshire a great place to live, work, and visit.
How you can take part
We’re looking for people from across York and North Yorkshire to get involved.
The group will be active from February 2026 to March 2026 and will involve participating in two online Teams calls over that period (dates and times to be confirmed). You may also be asked to read short documents or listen to brief presentations to help inform the discussions and provide your views, for example by completing a survey.
We want you to:
- Tell us what you think transport in the region should look like in the future
- Provide feedback on the aims and objectives of the Local Transport Plan
- Help develop ideas for transport schemes and initiatives to be included in the plan, covering all types of transport: public transport, roads, parking, walking, wheeling and cycling, and freight and deliveries
To apply
If you’d like to take part please fill in our short survey, which will help us to recruit a group that reflects our diverse geography and communities. There are limited places on the group and we will send you an email to let you know if you have a place or not. Please complete your application by 9am on Thursday 5 February 2026.
The group will be co-ordinated by Steer on behalf of York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. By participating in this community group, you are indicating that you understand that YNYCA will be using Steer as a data processor to collect and process the personal data shared in this exercise. The Combined Authority will act in accordance with its privacy policy. For more information on how your data is stored and processed, see our privacy notice.
