A statement from the Mayor, in response to Government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill announcement:

David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said: “I’m determined to make sure people across York and North Yorkshire have the warm and affordable housing they need and deserve.

“The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is exactly what we need in our region to smash down the roadblocks slowing down house building and clean energy infrastructure and powers up our work as a Combined Authority to work together across local authority borders, identifying what development is needed and the infrastructure requirements to make places work for people.

“Simply put, this is more than building houses, it’s about creating communities. This is devolution in action. Delivering for our communities, being able to deliver for our region, supporting the people who live and work here, to thrive.”
