Visitors to the Great Yorkshire Show are invited to meet the teams keeping you safe and feeling safe in York and North Yorkshire. The Office for Policing, Fire, Crime and Commissioning, North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service will be on stand 328, next to GOLD GATE.

On Friday 12 July, Mayor for York and North Yorkshire David Skaith and Deputy Mayor for Policing Fire and Crime Jo Coles will be on stand 328 between 10am–11:30am to meet visitors to the show.

The joint stand will feature:

  • An opportunity to meet the York and North Yorkshire Mayor David Skaith and Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime, Jo Coles and find out more about their roles and the work of the Office for Policing, Fire, Crime and commissioning.
  • VR Goggles – suitable for 13+, experience road traffic collision as a passenger and the work that the emergency services do at the scene.
  • Vehicles – police and fire bikes and the return of a special edition police John Deere tractor, kindly loaned by Ripon Farm Services.
  • Fire safety for the home, farm and business.
  • Road Safety Children’s Activity Table.
  • Rural crime prevention advice for your home, your belongings, your vehicle and yourself.
  • Horse riding Road Safety Advice
  • And much more.

 

Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime, for York and North Yorkshire said:

 

“The Great Yorkshire Show is a brilliant celebration of our region and I’m looking forward to attending with the Mayor to meet residents to discuss people’s concerns and priorities.

 

“It’s also a chance to find out about my work as Deputy Mayor and North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service who do such important work to keep us all safe.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Area Manager Tom Hirst said:

 

“North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is a key member of our area’s Road Safety Partnership, and this year we are delighted to be focusing our efforts at the Great Yorkshire Show on road safety.

 

“To help our team have some fantastic conversations this year, we will be bringing a range of items with us including our virtual reality goggles, and our fire bikes.
