Community Buildings have been supported through two programmes, the Mayoral Investment Funded Village Halls and Community Buildings Grant Programme and UK Shared Prosperity and Rural England Prosperity Funded Community Buildings Programme.
The different programmes have funded a range of updates, including CCTV systems, accessibility improvements, and future proofing assets for long term use.
The funding has supported a range of organisations including VCSEs, Village Halls, Sports Clubs, and Parish Councils.
How community spaces are supporting our region’s most vulnerable
WHISH (Whitby Hidden Impairments Support and Help) were supported by the Village Halls and Community Buildings grant to make their building more accessible.
They provide support, information, activities and friendship to families and children with a diverse range of disabilities and impairments.
By making their building more accessible, they have been able to expand on these services, ensuring all families in the area can benefit.

Recipients of the Village Halls and Community Buildings grant explain the benefits of the programme to them and their communities.
