The Mayor’s Local Transport Plan consultation

Two buses in a town centre

Aug 26, 2026

Transport is about much more than getting from A to B. It connects us to family, friends, educations, jobs, healthcare and leisure.

Better transport connections can support economic growth, improve access to opportunities, strengthen communities and deliver environmental benefits across York and North Yorkshire.

The Mayor's draft Local Transport Plan sets out a long-term vision for improving transport across York and North Yorkshire, helping people travel more easily, safely and sustainably.

It will guide future transport investment and priorities across the county and will be supported by a delivery plan setting out how improvements will be made across all modes of transport, including walking, wheeling, cycling, buses, rail and roads.
