We believe everyone in York and North Yorkshire should have access to affordable, energy efficient homes offering year-round comfort.
Our Housing Growth Strategy details how we, as an authority, will support the building of 60,000 new homes before 2035 – ensuring 25,000 of these are genuinely affordable.
Over 1,300 new homes on 23 sites across York and North Yorkshire are being unlocked by our Brownfield Housing Fund (BHF) programme - launched in 2023. In August 2026 we were allocated a further £17.8m from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) which will be allocated to projects delivering homes across the county.
